Pista'y Dayat in Lingayen
Lingayen, the Town Capital of the Province of Pangasinan, celebrates the Pista'y Dayat every May 1. In celebration of the bounties of the sea, a celebration to give thanks. Now, Pista'y Dayat is not celebrated in Lingayen alone but also in other neighboring towns of the province that has their very own beautiful beaches. Pangasinan's Pista'y Dayat has become the province' answer to National Festivals like Panagbenga, Ati-Atihan and Sinulog.

Holy Week 2011
Holy Week is celebrated by Christians around the world to reminisce the most important event in Christian beliefs - The death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
Lingayen, just like in any other places in the Philippines, celebrates the Holy Week yearly. As a Christian they believe that this celebration is the time for them to ask forgiveness for everything, and to give thanks. People of Lingayen go to the Church with there family, friends and participate with the ceremony, listen to the priest's sermon, and to pray.
During Holy Weeks, people of Lingayen, and from nearby towns usually starts to walk from their towns going to the Manaoag Church. Filipino people call this as "panata". Many Filipinos perform a panata, which has come to mean a repayment for a prayer or wish that was granted.
Other forms of panata for Filipino Christians is to whip their backs, until the skin bleeds. Scourging. Others wear crown made of thorns. Other people have themselves crucified on a wooden cross using steel nails.

The Roman Catholic Church In Lingayen
This picture shows the newly painted Roman Catholic Church in Lingayen. The said church is located in front of the Three Kings Market Building, near the Magic Supermarket in the town proper of Lingayen.
Cathedral of the Epiphany of Our Lord was originally built in the late 1500's. And until now, this building is standing still. Looking at this old building, you will notice the bell tower on its side, built in classical colonial Spanish architectural design.
As you enter this church, you may also notice the floor plan of this building, the design of its floor plan is exactly the same as the shape of the cross.
Underneath this newly painted building are pieces of brick and very old stone, to confirm our minds that this church is older than it appears to be.

The Provincial Capitol in Lingayen
This is the present picture of the historical building in Lingayen called "The Provincial Capitol" which is built near the Lingayen Gulf along with other provincial government buildings.Until now this building is standing still and had resist all the calamities that it had been through (earthquake, tornado, super typhoons, flood, etc...) and to maintain its structure, beauty and the original design of the building, "The Provincial Capitol" had undergone several renovations.
This is the image of the "Lingayen Provincial Capitol" during the Pre-World War II. This image shows how old the Provincial Capitol is, and untill now it is standing still and serves as one of the landmarks of Pangasinan and still being use by the people of lingayen, specially the government employees working there.

This is what you will find, if you go beyond the Provincial Capitol in Lingayen, -War Machines, Equipments, Battle Tanks and other memorabilia of World War II. This World War II Memorabilia Ground is located in Lingayen, Pangasinan. If you are going to the Lingayen Gulf, this World War II Memorabilia Ground comes first.
This Memorabilila Ground was made for us to remind us about what happened about the past and for the purpose to know our history, to reminisce and give honor to our veterans who played an important role during the World War II.
Today, this serves as a landmark in the said municipality. And is said to be one of the best tourist attractions that you can find in Lingayen, Pangasinan.
Bagoong As One Of The Leading Products in Lingayen
Bagoong is one of the leading products of Lingayen which can be found in Northern Luzon. Bagoong is made by mixing measured amounts of fish, shrimp or brine. This recipe undergoes the process of fermentation, in which it is kept and fermented from ten to twelve months until it produces bubbles and acquires it unpleasant smell. Basically, some people may not like the smell of Bagoong because of its characteristic pungent odor.
Other names for Bagoong is Ginamos. In Visayas, they use to call Bagoong as Ginamos. The only name that changes is the type of fish that was use to make Bagoong like Alamang, Terong, Monamon and etc...
People have unexpectedly discovered a byproduct of Bagoong, The Patis or Fish Sauce. Patis was discovered when after the process of fermentation, they saw a clear yellowish liquid floating at the top of the fermented mixture.
In Ilocos Region, they are known with their favorite recipe called Pakbet or Pinakbet and they use Bagoong to accompany it.
Bagoong is a Philippine condiment that every Filipino should be proud of.
